The Carbon Reduction Commitment

In April 2010, the Carbon Reduction Commitment (CRC) will introduce the UK’s first mandatory carbon ‘Cap and Trade’ scheme for large non-energy intensive public and private sector organisations. It will require organisations to make cost-effective improvements in energy efficiency.

It is essential that those required to participate establish an efficient data reporting system that is integrated throughout the organisation. This will then be used to complete an evidence pack; annual and footprint reports; and forecast carbon emissions in order to accurately purchase carbon allowances on an annual basis.

The more energy you save compared to other organisations, the more likely you are to make the scheme revenue positive.
